friday night juile and i ate at camino real. we were a little surprised erin hadn't emailed us during the day to see what we were doing. we both figured she'd want to hang out with us. but anyway we had our supper and didn't do much of anything when we got back here. saturday we went to our company picnic at the nashville zoo. having been to the atlanta zoo a few years ago i was a bit let down by our zoo here. but julie and i had fun looking at the animals and walking around. the picnic itself was alright, but we didn't really stay long. not many ppl i knew were there while we were, so we just headed back home. i stopped by one computer place on the way home to look for a switch/hub and whatever else but they had nothing. stopped at another usual spot and they didn't have much either, but while waiting for julie to finish shopping at the wal mart next door this couple in their thirties comes in with a box or two. they ask the salesman if they could trade some stuff in towards a purchase. they appeared to have a case and another little box of assorted things (mostly cables). the salesman was rather snobby and said the stuff they had there wouldn't be worth their time basically. the couple also asked about a monitor, but this didn't meet their high standards either. so as the guy was about to leave i go over and tell him i'd be interested in taking this stuff off his hands. i tell him i don't have much money, but i need a case and i'm sure i can use the spare bits he's got. he tells me that if i can use it, i can have it. he gave me the monitor too, but it's a little 14" that's nearly 10 years old. good for testing things i guess. but the case was in pretty good shape after a light cleaning, and it came with some somewhat useful cables, had a power supply in the case, and another power supply in the box (though both are a bit weak at 235w and 250w), and a voodoo 3 3000 pci card. rather good luck as i was needing this stuff to put andy's parts use. sat night julie and i watched some teevee, and i talked to malachi on the phone a bit. i'd hoped him and kimberly could come over to have supper, play some games, and get the mobo/stuff from mal; but kimberly needed to nap and wasn't up till kinda late. but we had lunch at shalimar today which was rather tasty. julie and i stopped by compusa and media play at 100 oaks on the way back but i didn't see anything much worth my time. and it's been a pretty lazy sunday afternoon thus far.
tomorrow night is another company meeting type thing at jillian's in opry mills. i'm mostly going for the free bowling. oh, and friday at work i sort of organized this going away food bash for joe, who came in to work the same time as me. he got a better offer in his hometown so he took it.
