well most of last week was boring. go figure. but fri morning i got up 'early' and grabbed up some shit and left out to pick up julie in m'boro. we went ring shopping at a place on the square called mullin's..i think. then we ate at city cafe which was very nummy being the chilly/rainy day that it was. then we headed on towards mcminnville and went to three jewelery stores there. no place had exactly what either of us wanting. go figure. but most places could order it, and all the stores in mcminnville were cheaper than mullin's. julie and i figured we'd sleep on the ring thing since we'd be passing through mcminnville again on sat, so we went on to sparta and put our engagement announcement in the expositer there. amazingly enough, it was free. i wish that was more of a trend in this wedding thing. we went to my parents house where i proceeded to do some laundry; my parents got home, we had supper, yadda yadda. but, get this, my parents original wedding rings were about what i was looking for in a ring. mom offered to let me have hers or pops and i could do whatever to make it fit me. i had to sleep on it, cause it'd be cool to have a heirloom like that, but i wasn't sure how i felt about taking something like that from them. pop said he was fine with it, so i took it. after a bit we all went to mcminnville and i had them resize pops ring to fit me they'll give it a bit more of a comfort fit. julie ordered her ring and that should be that. then we shopped around in general with my parents and had lunch..not so much in that order though. then julie and i came back home. i dropped her off at her dorm, and she came up here later on after getting some clothes/etc. we watched some buffy (go figured) and a trading spaces. amazingly julie wasn't totally disguisted with a room hildi did. but blech! to the kitchen gen did. gah. so anyway, sun morning we finally get out of bed and proceed to have our valentine's a few days late. we go to kroger to get our ingredients to cook, but they don't have any heavy whipping cream...nor any pablano peppers. and it'd kinda hard to make pablano pepper pasta with no pablanos. so we have to run over to publix to get those two things. we get back here and i start cooking the pasta...we need a food processor. and we also need an actual set of knives *cough*doug*cough* but the pasta came together just fine. i was afraid i'd scorch the cream or curdle it or something, but my hours of watching foodtv paid off i guess. the pasta tasted good, but it seemed like it was missing something..which is odd considering how many fucking things went into it. but still good. then juile started making the cake. oh, while i was making the pasta, julie figured out she'd misfigured the pint->cup conversion so she had to go out and get some more cause her cake needed cream too. so anyway we start on the cake and it was a fucking mess to make, but it turned out well. we didn't have time to actually finish it before we had to leave to go to the tori concert, but here is what it looked like around midnight last night. onetwothree but the tori concert..our tix were up in the balcony as i mentioned on here previously i'm sure. turns out there were really fucking great seats. i thought the monkey in front of me was going to block my view, but he started slumping by the time tori came on..and he scooched to the right some. the sound was really good. much better than in atlanta. i think doug would have enjoyed this show much more, not just for sound but she played more songs i think he would have known. but that kinda bugged me...seems like she was playing some sort of 'greatest hits' theme or something. lots of singles and usual standards. in atlanta she played doughnut song, a fucking great version of mother, and famous blue raincoat for god's sake. though she did play somewhere over the rainbow, which was kinda sweet cause way back i use to tell julie that was our song..i can't remember why that came about, but as she and i were having our v-day yesterday, it was very touching to hear her play that. and she did do hotel, which was cool. but anyway, it was still a great concert and afterwards julie and i came back here and finished up the cake and ate a little bit of it, then she had to go back to the dorms.
and this morning the guy from teksystems called about the edi contract job; seems that they've finally signed whatever deal it was and something should start happening soon. he called back later and i've got an interview with them wed morning, so hopefully that goes well. and hopefully they actually put me to work soon.
