a pretty mixed weekend. some good, some bad. friday night julie did come up and we went to nashville's equivalent to knoxville's silver spoon. service: shitty food: damn good salad. we went to big lots on the way home cause i wanted a little bit of a snack; got some graham crackers and an el cheapo chocolate w/ peanuts candy bar. we came back and watched monk on usa. it's alright...considering what else is on on friday nights. saturday morning pop came over and had gotten a gauge from the junkyard in manchester. he called before he got here and wanted me to find places with water pumps cause he wanted to just flat out replace himself that day. i didn't feel to comfortable with this: 1) i wasn't totally sure the water pump was an issue, and 2) i thought the job was a bit above us. but i call around and we have to rush over to an advance auto parts so they can have the pump in by 1pm. juile left while pop and i were gone. we get back and start messing with replacing the gauge. unfortunately the dude at the junkyard gave pop the instructions on how to take out the cluster on an e36 and mine is an e30. so...we tried for a bit and coudln't figure out how to get this one piece of trim off. so we quit and started to take the fan clutch off. now last time when we replaced the fan clutch, it wasn't an easy thing to take off. requires a specific tool, but we managed. well this time the bugger just wasn't coming off. we go to get the pump, come and work on the fan clutch some more and it still won't come off. pop decided to give up at this point. so we put the fan blade and fan housing back on and pop wants to take it for a spin. so we drive around a bit, down the backroad here and through the mall area for some real heat inducing stop-and-go traffic....the gauge never overheats. never even touches the mid-mark. so pop starts to believe me a bit more that it may just be the gauge. except there was some sort of pecking going on around the water pump area. we pretty much decide for him to pick the car up from here one afternoon and drive it back to sparta. have the mechanic in cookeville put the water pump in (and even the gauge if he will) and i'll go to sparta this weekend to pick it up. tentative plan anyway. after all that we go to shoney's to eat and then over to computer renaisannce and baraka. i luck up and find this gateway case with a floppy drive and cdrom, no power supply for $5. a fucking floppy drive costs $15 if you're lucky. only hitch is that someone has painted the front and top plastic bezel blue. ...but i can paint it too eh? get it home and find out the connection plate on the back is not swappable and that's an issue since my fic board is bassackwards with the ps2 and usb ports. and the power supply i have is too big. the gateway must have used a dinky little power supply. but pop says he can dremel out the connection plate some and template out an area for the power supply so it will fit in. still a good fucking deal. we got some sweets from baraka too, and then i bid farewall to my pop. julie comes back over around 8 or 9 pm. she winds up reading some harry potter fanfic on my secondary machine while i tinker on my main machine. then we go to bed. get up sunday morning and just talk about stuff till it's close to lunch time. we go to olive garden. we come back here after that and she read me some more of the chamber of secrets. too bad i didn't let her read a little bit of it friday night cause she had to leave to go back to m'boro to meet her parents around 2:30 and we only had two chapters left. sunday afternoon i just play alice and jedi outcast.
got pegged for jury duty tomorrow. big yea cause now i get to get up at 6am. : / fucking civic duty.
