had a good weekend. bit of a change of pace this time around. friday night i went down to m'boro to see julie; we at the front porch cafe. it was really nice cause it was kinda storming outside; mostly lots of lightning, and we were sitting by a window so we got some nice shows out of that. went back to her dorm and she finished up chamber of secrets and we looked through the maine book a bit. and as i was leaving she told this story about how some girl had died in room 317 of some dorm (not the one she's in thank goodness) back in the '20s of scarlet fever and supposedly her ghost is still there. she told me how some girl was in there cleaning the place and didn't know about the story; she said she felt like someone was watching her but it was one of the weeks in summer where _no one_ is there. and how ppl say it's colder in there than all the other rooms. *shudder* so she had me freaked out most of the way home with that. dunno why. ghost stories just tend to do that to me. saturday i went to work with mom (she doesn't usually work on sat, just had to get some stuff done) while pop took the lumina to mcminnville to get it worked on. his brother brought him back to the house, and then pop came on up to cookeville and picked me up and we got the bimmer. seems to run ok so far; temp gauge doesn't get past the 1/3 mark now. still makes the peck that pop thought was the water pump in the first place...but at least we know it's a new water pump and thermostat in there. so anyway, after picking up the bimmer we run by autozone to pick up some spray paint to paint my case covers with. pop and i go back home and try to first cut out the hole for the power supply. he only had wood working dremel tools so it didn't go so well at first. we finally went out and got a metal blade to put in a jigsaw. that worked a good bit better. saturday evening we went to mcminnville and ate at a place in the mall there called jay's. i bought supper to thank them bother for hauling my car around and for pop working on my case and stuff. we shopped around a bit afterwards and came home. sunday pop and i started painting the case covers. the top piece went rather well, but the front kept kinda botching up in the same places. so pop would let it dry, sand it off and paint again...and it'd do it again. must have been something with the plastic..but the blue paint didn't have any of those blemishes in those spots. *shrug* so we had some sandwiches for lunch and finally get the case painted right and i head on home. malachi and kimberly had mentioned coming over sunday night to watch some angel, but kimberly had been at a birth or somesuch, so she was too tired to come over. i started to put the mobo in the case we'd worked on. i put the parallel and serial header in the panel in the back and notice the mounting holes don't match the mounts in the case. the mobo needs to scoot about 1/8 of an inch to the left and they'd all match...so we're going to have to cut yet even more off the case. it's hard to explain but the usb and ps/2 headers are backwards on my fic board as compared to most cases. so i figured if we just cut out that spot, it'd fit in. guess not. *sigh* so i put all that back up. julie came by with mike in tow as they'd gone to see 'the fastest runner' at green hills 16. they didn't stay but a minute, and i started playing jedi outcast when they left. beat it last night around 11:30 or so. fiddled around a bit and went on to bed.
man it felt good to get back on the interstate in my bimmer and actually be able to accelerate and feel like i'm driving.
next weekend my parents are thinking of going to the cumberland gap and i'll prolly go along with them. we'll be back sunday night and then julie and i can go to the garden inn on monday and talk to the guys there (finally) and see if she can still afford to have the wedding there.
oh and my cell phone is ready to pick up; i'll prolly get it tomorrow night. no supar big rush for it or something. and i'll be getting a new cable modem this week perhaps. comcast is upgrading and i've got the oldest cable modem they've got in service. i kinda worry that they'll scale back my download rates with it though since they'll have more control of this modem than my current one.
